So if you are comfortable with Z-Wave and already have it running in your home, by all means use it. Sorry, little off topic but just want to share experience. Our August Smart Lock Pro standing guard over the front door. All into august now, I could’ve easily paid for Schlage locks and a nice zwave hub. I played with them and liked it but wasn’t sold on adding zwave to my smart home. If the battery replacement could be an annoyance get the bridge but that’s $$$.Īlso consider if you want a keypad (which is a really nice feature) that’s more $$$.įor me, in hindsight wish I would’ve just went with Schlage zwave locks. I left for the weekend and needed make sure I swapped batters as it gave me the “less than 20%” for a couple days so was just worried it wouldn’t make it through the weekend whereas if I was home I wouldn’t legged it out. If you don’t want to have to replace batteries regularly (cost isn’t huge as you can do Amazon battery subscribe and save) but it’s an issue. Main complaint is on wifi they drink the batteries (2-3 month life used like twice a day with all the detection functions turned off). I do like the august locks but I’d say only get them if you are limited with switching the whole lock out, eg, rental property.
